Dr. Raed AlHazme, PhD, MSc, MCTS-BI, GB-LSS, HL7
Dr. Raed AlHazme has obtained his bachelor’s degree in the field of biomedical engineering from King Saud University. Upon completing his degree in 2001, he joined King Abdulazize Medical City, as a elinical engineer. During this time, Dr. AlHazme was heavily involved in the implementation of many health IT systems at the medical city. In 2006, he was appointed as the director of the clinical engineering department. The clinical engineering department oversaw the implementation and support of many medical technologies including a number of medical informatics solutions. During the year of 2007, Dr. AlHazme started working on implementing a comprehensive cardiac medical informatics solution that covered most of the cardiac center’s clinical areas. The project was completed in the beginning of 2010 and shortly afterward, Dr. AlHazme moved to the United States to pursue his master’s and PhD degrees.
In 2012, Dr. AlHazme has completed his master’s degree in Biomedical Informatics at Nova Southeastern University, Florida-USA. He then pursued his PhD degree at the biomedical informatics PhD program at Rutgers University, New Jersey-USA, and completed the degree in 2015. In addition to the academic degrees, Dr. AlHazme has passed the exams of a number of professional certificates and became a Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist (MCTS), HL7 Certified on the HL7 Messaging Standard, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified.
In 2012 and during his master’s degree study, Dr. AlHazme had been involved in a large Business Intelligence (BI) development and implementation project in Florida-USA. The BI system that was implemented has significantly improved upon a manual data analysis and reporting system that the Broward Regional Health Planning Council (BRHPC) administered for over 25 years. The BI system automatically gathered data from most of the hospitals and nursing homes in Broward County; 21 hospitals and tens of nursing homes. The system also included data from the Florida Prevention Quality Indicators (PQI) and Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) state and national databases.
Dr. AlHazme has rejoined MNGHA in 2015 as an associate executive director of the data and business intelligence department. In 2016, he was also appointed as an acting associate executive director for the enterprise medical systems department, which handles all health IT systems in the organization. Moreover, Dr. AlHazme has been given the title of joint-appointment assistant professor at the health informatics department in King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences.
